CartStack alternatives for hotels on Cloudbeds: a fair comparison
If your hotel runs on Cloudbeds and you're choosing a tool to win back guests who leave the booking engine, these are the main options. We make Converstay, so we've stuck to what each vendor publishes and said where another tool is the better fit.

The options
- CartStack (RezRecover): abandoned cart and booking recovery for e-commerce and hospitality, listed in the Cloudbeds Marketplace.
- ReGuest: a guest engagement and upselling suite that also sends personalised offers.
- Building it yourself: a tag on the booking engine, an email service, and someone to match bookings.
- Converstay: abandoned booking recovery built only for the Cloudbeds booking engine.

When CartStack is the better choice
CartStack works with many booking engines and online stores. If you run hotels on different systems, or you're moving off Cloudbeds, one tool across all of them is simpler. It also offers on-site offers and pop-ups beyond the booking engine itself.
When ReGuest fits
ReGuest covers more of the guest journey than recovery: upselling before arrival, offers over WhatsApp and Messenger, and live chat. It costs more, and suits hotels that want one suite for guest engagement rather than a recovery tool.
Building it yourself
It's possible: a script on the booking engine that saves the guest's email and stay, an email service on your domain, templates in each language, and a daily check of your reservations so you stop emailing guests who booked. The hard parts are the ones you only notice later: guests who book through an OTA, cancellations counted as wins, a template that breaks when Cloudbeds changes its booking engine, and keeping a do-not-email list.
Where Converstay fits
Converstay does one thing for one booking engine. Because it reads your Cloudbeds rooms, rates and reservations directly, each email shows the guest's exact room, dates and current rate in their language, and each booking it claims has a Cloudbeds reservation behind it. On the monthly plan, if a hotel recovers less than $199 in a month, its next month is free. It doesn't do SMS, WhatsApp or other booking engines.
How it works on Cloudbeds walks through the setup.
Switching from another tool
- Run the new tool in test mode first, and compare who it would have emailed with what your current tool sends.
- Remove the old tool's script from the booking engine before approving the new emails, so guests don't get two series.
- Move your unsubscribe list across.
- Remove the old tool's DNS records for sending, and give any new sending subdomain its own DMARC record.
- Compare a full month against your old tool's results, counting only bookings with a real reservation behind them.
Questions
What is the best CartStack alternative for a hotel on Cloudbeds?
It depends on what you need. For recovery on Cloudbeds alone, Converstay is built for exactly that. For several booking engines, CartStack itself covers more. For broader guest engagement and upselling, look at ReGuest.
How much does CartStack cost for hotels?
CartStack prices hotels by number of rooms. Hotel Tech Report listed it from about $200 a month in October 2026. Ask CartStack for a quote for your property.
Can I switch tools without losing bookings?
Yes. Run the new tool in test mode alongside the old one, then remove the old script and approve the new emails on the same day.
